Dumb or not, Athrun was a PLANT citizen for most of his life, and I guess he might want
to go back some times.
It was a very attractive offer from Durandal to clear his name, by serving the country a few years more.
Better than all the legal troubles Athrun would take every time he enter the colonies through the front door.
(WELL, these words are too light. Athrun was being suspected of treason....)
OTOH, I am afraid I don't agree that Athrun is impatient.
