It's really interesting that the demon queen is going to use demons to instigate her plans. If she wasn't so endearingly charismatic in the first chapter, I would have some doubts about her. I wonder how far these 'necessary evils' will have to go in order to achieve their goals.
I must say, I've never seen a maid compared to a slave(serf) as depicted in this chapter. I mean, sure, maids ARE, in a sense, slaves to their masters, but usually it's shown in a more comedic light. I thought it was almost unfair to compare them to a maid, who actually had the freedom to quit and leave to work elsewhere if she so chose. Being forced and locked into a certain fate is much different than willingly choosing that fate, which is why I sided with the children(and not because the head maid was being "mean").
