I think what I like most about Ed is his determination to fulfill the promise he made to Al. There are times when he falters, as expected from any human (let alone, a child!), but he forges on and keeps going in the end. He keeps going even though he's been thrown in jail, his friend taken hostage, himself facing death......

I wonder whether Ed would end up dying in the manga's ending?
