That would be Subaru from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.
On topic, I loved this series from start to finish, there were downsides, like the hits it took in the animation department at times which irked me, and sudden plot revelations that were abandoned just as easilly, but overall this was a great show to watch.
