Now we know what the show is about. The algorithm for recognizing elements in images. This is what "Higashi no Eden" is really all about.
This is a big big thing in our world, because we haven't yet developed ways to make this possible. Google images is the most primitive benign example, as it looks for filenames, and has nothing to do with things IN images.
That however was developed a bit further with finding similar results based on the similar pattern and color/shading, which is what this website does (potentially NSFW!!):

And further a bit, are the hidden watermarks that are embedded/cataloged for every single image-taking device, which you can track with this algorithm:

Which brings us to exact science of this issue:

That's a good, but limited read. The recognition software used by Interpol today for identifying people, and the bullshit imaging software you see on your TV crime dramas are basically about this, however the one in this show is far high and advanced.
We also seem to know now, why Takizawa would potentially want to kill Saki. To have this software in the wrong hands is disastrous for personal freedoms, as anyone could be identified with any information that was attached to them by whoever was in control of the system. Like for example, you could tag people as NEET's, and then have someone execute them one by one.
Also, the reason Ohsugi was taking images of the room was probably so that if they looked for him with the imaging software, they could find him based on the shit that was in the room/room structure (familiar hotel arrangment etc.)
Anyway.
Quite nicely developed, even if I'm wrong.
