I've hardly ever seen it as well, but I've heard quite a few women comment about rape in the books they read. Maybe it's because it's in books that are focused towards women because its a real fear for women so they can relate easier, where as men are.. detached.. from it since it "can't" happen to them so we get other buttons pressed, so to speak..
Never mind the darker 'fantasies' people, both men and women have about rape.
