To be clear, we don't know if they're intending to adapt the entire game into 26 episodes. All we know is that 26 episodes are planned in this round (and actually, there may be a bonus 27th on the Blu-Rays, but we'll see).
But in the end, I would say that no matter what they do, they won't please all game players as far as the story goes because some things some people will consider important will be cut no matter what no matter how many episodes they throw at it. All the previous Key adaptations had the same issue -- you will find people who complain that certain things were cut or cut short in any case. I think this was inevitable no matter who was adapting it.
