Don't you just hate that... its like some unknowable faux pas was committed and you'll never get a chance to rectify it.
It may be as simple as she felt like you were "showing off your friends" (see all the girls I count as friends)? Even in the States, I encounter people repeatedly who seem to have trouble comprehending that one can be "just" *friends* with someone of the opposite sex.
