Plus there's that whole tearful farewell kiss scene between Loran and Sochie, while there's no dialogue there I think you can kind of infer that there's the kind of "me or her" feeling that people are talking about. The feelings of the main character or whether either girl "had a chance" isn't really factored into discussions here
