they can probably heal. heck they needed it after the trashing they get from Aqua and after that story there goes Carrissa but after that battle. there isn't much battle involving magic side characters. Elizard did heal Rikou.
The magicians knew healing but we're just haven't seen them use it because we usually see from the pov of Touma which healing is pretty much useless. Accelerator doesn't have a buddy buddy magician that will help him heal and also Shiage too.
