Leo_Otaku: yeah, "The Revelation of Saint John the Divine" was named in the first episode. Although I think it's because of Johan/John/Juan are the same.

I found this website:

it says Joth can be from german descendent. In "Another Monster" novel they say something about "a mystery newly found in the picture books". And searching on google I found something about "Joth" is "a secret name of God". This can't be casual!
I don't think Joth is Johan's real name but I'm sure that name means something. I'm sure Urasawa put that on the storybook for some reason.
