Hm, Romney isn't really that crazy. It's called pandering to his party. It's called rhetoric. For any Republican to receive his party's nomination, he needs: 1) money and 2) to get support from the old and religion wingnuts
People always say there's some big conspiracy and that the wealthy are keeping people misinformed.. But, it's so ridiculously easy to get information now, that those that are misinformed are CHOOSING to stay misinformed.
On a random anecdote, I was talking to someone that was at a dinner party with a premier (the equivalent of a "governor" in Canada) and he was talking about policy, bureaucracy, decision-making and elections -- there are some whackjobs in politics, but most people are sane and reasonable and totally tied down in so many ways that it's almost incomprehensible to the rest of us.
