In episode 311, The episode was about kon (in ichigo's body) in a filler episode about an arrancar (I believed he mentions she was from hueco mundo, but I forget) who is causing trouble in karakura town. If this arrancar is still around then it isn't much of a stretch to assume that nelliel and the others that didn't perish are around somewhere.
(P.S, i don't know about you guys, but the way Mayuri Kurotsuchi killed the arrancar scientist was terrifying. Slowing down his senses so he perceives everything that happens at like a million times slower than the original speed. So the arrancar must have felt like he was "alive" for several thousand years... ouch.)
