The pacing in episode 1 felt reeeally weird. I guess it's tricky to adapt from prose, and you can't pull off the subtle reveals as easily. A lot of wonderfully disturbing scenes were cut short though and left hanging without explanation. Like the farm scene. Doesn't explain why she was reminded of the farm at all, and I don't know if they'll get back to it later.

Also they totally skipped Happy Fun Brainwashing Time with Mushin Shounin. Maybe they'll flash back to it, but it's not like they're trying to save the dark stuff for later. It does hint at stuff that might be better presented with the Minoshiromodoki's long speech, but I dunno. The novel didn't feel the need to save it for later.

This is supposed to be 26 episodes, isn't it? They should have had plenty of time to slow down the introduction and not jump around so much... hmph. I hope I'm not becoming One of Those People.
