The intro to Volume 8 indeed smells like the official declaration of a subtle genre shift throughout the last two volumes. Of course, a case could also be made that the initial premise of Hagani was burried under Harem Humor for the past few volumes, and it's now that it's come to a head, bringing Hagani more towards it's main point. A lonely boy acquiring a network of friends, and once he is there, flees in fear and the lack of self-confidence.
