Wow parasites, I had a theory about parasites after watching onikakushi-hen but I later threw it away as it felt to sci-fi. Since its from Takano's scrapbook it can be incorrect, so I dont believe it yet.
Random theory: The "volcanic" gas in Tatarigoroshi-hen was infact some kind of nervgas from the military to prevent an epidemic to break out.
