I don't think it was a "troll" at all, although I do think some aspects were "theatricized" (such as the over-the-top fight, and Kyousuke's over-the-top confessions). The ending wraps up an awful lot of plot threads that were established in the first season and developed over the course of the second season, so I didn't really see this transition to a "trainwreck" (it seemed to connect pretty clearly to me).
I guess, suffice it to say, I had an entirely different read on the show and on the ending than you did, despite there being aspects I would have liked to have seen better-rendered in the way-too-truncated anime (and some parts I would have omitted if it had been up to me).
