Tldr, near the end, hell breaks loose and how the leader becomes a demon king a part of these demons. The mercenary tries to save him but the leader basically accepts the demon power and betrays the mercenary (he ends up getting his arm cut off by his own hand in an attempt to save his girl).

I'm positive it came out this year, I watched it, but I forgot the name.

That's Berserk, the movie trilogy.

There's also a TV-series but that's older (and better too)
