not sure if you actually follow the manga adaptation but Mikoto actually *does* transform into a human....well...more like neko-human in the latest chapter.

Then again they do take on two seperate directions but then again who knows what Sunrise could actually pull off here since they're known for the red herrings in Mai Hime. I suppose it could go either way.
