Yes I do think the number in anime is odd as well
My guess would be that they devide into 5 group of 6 (30) + left over party (KiriAsu) + Lone Leader who attempt to LA Boss (Diabel).
When diabel take command in early boss fight, There are only group A B C D E F which Kirito's being group F. That indicated there are indeed only 6 parties in the whole raid.

This screenshot should account to all raid survivor. 32 in total + 1 KIA, unless, of cause, there were more casualty during boss rampage after Diabel's death.
Other one that come close is
At the meeting, 29 in total, KiriAsu were offscreen (They shouldn't but they were, oh well
) We can assume that some were behind those pillars.
Other scenes show only 20ish of them at most I believe.
Remember that I'm talking about anime here, and how bravely anime SAO raiders are, not a pussy novel player who dreamt for 2 raid groups
