Ah yes, Kira 01. So, DEEN was being DEEN, which I don't have to like. The first half did drag, like a carcass along a gravel road. Even I felt like taking a cold shower after that. That said, I should gather my thoughts about certain parts of this OVA.
Spoiler for Part 1 Musings and Commentary:
God, Mion's VA still has the absolute best crazy laugh.
Trouble winning against the club members, Kei-chan? I suggest better cheating.
Keiichi: "The Soul Brothers!? Where did you emerge from?"
Irie: "The school attic. That's a perfectly acceptable place for a detective, a doctor, and a photographer to hang out after hours, right?"
So...how does Keiichi imagining possible penalty games help him win?
Tomitake, that is just disturbing how much you smiled while photographing Rika.
Anyone else surprised that of all people, IRIE comes up with Mion's penalty game?
Should anyone be surprised that of all people, Irie comes up with Satoko's penalty game?
Leave poor Hanyuu alone! She's just a poor, defenseless goddess of chaos.
Irie's on a roll, now. I thought that Tomitake would come up with Miyo's penalty game.
How can she look that sexy and STILL sound so creepy?
I am now of the belief that Tomitake has an obsession with blue hair, as well as grouping blue hair with ass fetishes.
Finally, someone with authority to pummel Keiichi into the dirt.
Then came Part 2, and things got weird...interesting, but decidedly weird.
Spoiler for Part 2 Musings and Commentary:
Keiichi awakens from his troll dream only to be greeted by the Club. Rika, of course, knows everything about everyone.
For some reason, I love the way both Satoko and Rika's eyes change angle at the exact same time.
For some warped reason, now we're treated to still more horrible penalty game outcomes. Rika remains as secretly cruel as ever.
Just for sake of argument, has Keiichi ever seen what Satoshi looks like?
In true Hinamizawa fashion, madness can take many forms.
God, why does Miyo have to be so downright creepy? Oh right....childhood.
Miyo the Queen or Miyo the God....do we really want to choose?
You're telling me that the Club can just walk toward the clinic armed to the teeth? What the hell happened to Miyo's private army?
It's official. Rika has consistently been the most entertaining character of the entire episode.
Keiichi: "Just because I'm a little out of sorts, you're going to kill me along with the shifty nurse? Some friends you are."
Mion, you're pointing a machine gun at them point-blank, and you STILL miss? You're the worst Yakuza heir ever.
Look at Miyo. She even runs like a nurse.
Are detective offices always that dark and filled with Mahjong tables?
The hell, Rena, you killed Miyo? What'd she ever do to you? I mean in this world.
I think that's the only shot in the entire series of all of them with demon eyes.
And so, after supposedly dying a horrible death, Keiichi awakens back in the school after hours, still miserable. Then, the Soul Brothers....again.
Once again, I blame Hanyuu for this. She IS the goddess of chaos, after all.
Eh, the episode gets a 5. Part 2 is more interesting, but Part 1 is still beyond obnoxious. VN side stories are called that for a reason. On the plus side, I've got more footage for Higu Hells and AMV's.
