That's not quite accurate. Bazett (with some mahou loli assistance) kicked his ass (or rather punched a gaping hole in his chest), but he regenerated the damage (or part of it). Alter Gil could not land any critical hit or damage to them (Bazett shrugged it off better than he did... That woman isn't compared to Berserker for no reason. What a beast). He seemed to fly away in Vimana to escape the place falling down on his head and go to mount Enzou.

I was under the impression that Bazett's attack didn't do much damage to him, it just seemed to have pissed him off (even more than he already was, that is). But you're right, the fight wasn't as one-sided as I made it sound. Bazett is truly a monster. She wasn't bragging when she said physical pain is no problem for her.

Yeah, Irisviel is just amazing. All of her scenes are so funny. Seeing her interact with her daughter(s) and Shirou is like a dream come true. I hope Kiritsugu will show up soon too. As Shirou said, the female to male ratio needs to be balanced.

All we know is that he abandoned the grail before the war even started. He might have still taken part in the war in order to put an end to it forever. I think what's happening right now is a side-effect of whatever he did back then.
