Some of the dub was better than others. The first episode was really difficult for me to listen to because it sounded like Kida and Mikado's VAs, especially, were reading off a page and not really thinking about the line delivery. The cadence and emphasis was off, in the sort of way that happens if you're reading out loud.
But I got used to it, mostly, as the episodes progressed, and some of the VAs were much more satisfactory - Celty's and Simon's, and JYB was great as Shizuo.
(I'm slightly disappointed that they went with "Shizu-chan" and not the "Shizzy" nickname that the first sub I saw used. It's a much more fitting localisation, imo, considering that they decided to have everyone call each other by first name, including the otaku group who
no one calls by first name.)
