Hmmm... I usually go for more realistic swords in my fledgling collection of blades, but this, along with Rena's nata from Higurashi, I actually consider buying if they ever came on sale, and they had an actual sharp edge and were sturdy enough for actual use.

I actually have a couple black-painted swords that I could sort of convert into in Elucidator, but they have an actual sharp edge, I doubt they would be allowed into a an anime convention.

I haven't read the whole LN, but chapter 16.5 technically took place in a video game, so does it really count? Insert "glopping noise" joke here.

Also, (based off you avatar), I'm now imagining two Kiritos fighting each other over Asuna!

Any decent real sword is gonna set you back a few hundred dollars at the very least.
Depends on your definition a real sword. If you mean it has to be made of high carbon steel and forged using traditional methods then yeah, that sounds about right.

On the other hand, if by real sword, you mean you can actually use to cut stuff, I have a cheap, yet very sharp single edged "psuedo-Japanese" straight edged sword (the closest thing would be a ninjato) that I have used to cut through plastic water bottles (the standard sword testing material where tatami mats are not available- at least according to Youtube), aluminum cans, and can even chop wood with minimal structural damage. I got it for about $30 at the local medieval fair.
