Except they don't have to do cameos for that. Any "bridging" that they might want to do is covered by all the SEED flashbacks in Destiny.
After someone has fully watched Destiny, they can't say that they haven't seen anything of SEED.
The helmet is the only special case here as far as continuity. (But I personally still think it sucks that Mu survives.)
