To give a contrasting opinion... I and I know many others consider AO to be an extreme disappointment. It has a relatively nice 3 episode start, but after that it went way downhill. By the end I actually felt it managed to spit on the fans over some plot reveals that were not so good to say the least.
Opinion are of course different around here, but I consider the original to be an anime classic. This? Not even watchable.
