How many of you have read variations of this line from fanfic ? It absolutely drives me insane whenever fic authors introduced their OCs this way

I always cringe when I read about "a mysterious stranger with a troubled past comes to town." Or some variation. Also, characters that are there for the purpose of changing a "troubled" or "dangerous" character (usually romantically), which come off so blatantly as poorly disguised self inserts it hurts to read.
I'm looking at you Thor or Avenger fics.
