the advisor dude at the end, who was revealed to be the last boss and then subsequently killed in literally five minutes, with no previous builtup for it whatsoever to boot. It almost felt like it was added to pad time, though now that I think about it, I have a sneaking suspicion that this maliciously researching blastia thing is somehow supposed to foreshadow something in the game as well.

While it's true the buildup wasn't very noticeable, but imo it was somewhat sufficient, since he kept giving off villainous vibes throughout the movie and some of his actions seemed to scream suspicious, at least to me. I also suspect the blastia is being foreshadowed in the game as well.

I'm not quite getting what you mean here.

The end of the film revealed that the entire castle had become one big monster due to the blastia so the golems made sense to me.

Going back to the game OP again (for the third time I know I know), the art resemblance between the film and the game was so close that I even got tricked into thinking they were made by the same studio.

A bit of trivia: Production I.G. did in fact do the OP animation for the game and as far as I'm aware, all the Tales of game OPs and cutscenes as well, which is another reason why I love them.

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets its own TV anime ala Abyss, considering the popularity of Vesperia and Yuri dominating the character rankings. I've also heard about plans for a possible sequel to the game via another movie... which would suck for us non-gamers.
