I stirred lightly from my sleep, groggily wondering why my best friend was jerking so much. Again I felt the covers pulled and felt Fate's leg kick out. Turning to look, I saw the blonde on her back, both fist clenched with handfuls of sheets. Tears streamed down her cheeks freely, making me instantly crawl over to her and turn on the lamp above our bed. “Fate-chan?” I tried softly, shaking her. “Fate-chan, wake up. Fate-chan.” My words worked and her eyes snapped open as she sat up so fast I fell back away from her. Sharp gasp of air were taken as dialated red eyes scanned the room until resting on me. “Fate-chan...”

“Nanoha...” She swallowed thickly. “...A dream...?”

“Are you okay?” I moved forward again and put my hand on her shoulder. “You were jerking in your sleep... you wet the bed.” I finished lamely, getting a shocked look. “Go change,” I whispered to her, softening my gaze and touching her cheek. “I'll take care of the sheets.” She slowly nodded and got out of bed in favor of new clothes. Once she was out of my sight I turned on the lamp on my side of the bed as well before throwing the cover off and pulling the sheets into a wad. I made quick work of the bed and replaced the cover that was thankfully okay. Now finished I looked back over at my friend who was sitting at her desk looking down at her lap in a mixture of emotions. “Fate-chan.” I knelt down in front of her. “Want to talk about it?”

Fate rubbed her eyes, wiping away light tears. “I had a nightmare,” she stated the obvious. “Scaglietti capture me...” She looked down at her lap. “I was put in one of those tubes...”

“Fate-chan...” The worst possible thing for her happened in her dreams that night. No wonder she was terrified. “I know something that will help.” She looked at me again, face so sad I wanted to join her crying. “Close your eyes.” She did as I requested and I slowly leaned forward, kissing her lips gently. Fate allowed the action for several seconds before finally pulling away and bringing two fingers to her mouth.

“You... kissed me.”

“Not just any kiss,” I informed her in a soft whisper while picking her up to carry back to the bed. “A magic kiss. It will prevent any bad dreams.”

Fate blushed darkly as I laid her down. “I'm not four, Nanoha.”

Sliding in the bed next to her, I reached up to cut off both lights before cuddling her. "Maybe not, but I'll still protect you." I pulled her to my chest and kissed her hair.

Ever so slowly Fate put an arm around me and relaxed. That was the first night that we slept arm in arm... But Every night after I found gentle eyes and an open invitation for an embrace from her.

And from then on, we shared a special good night kiss that only the two of us knew about.

but anyway, it's lunch time so here's another short. Someone posted on here about Vivio asking why auntie Subaru and auntie Tia didn't kiss like her mamas did... Don't remember who said it, but I haven't seen anything come from it so I'm picking it up.

Vivio looked up at Nanoha curiously as she parted with Fate, bending over just enough to peck each other's lips. On the other side of her Subaru was waving to Tia happily before splitting off to train on different areas of the field. "Ne," She piped up, getting all four to look down at her. "Why doesn't Aunt-Tia and Aunt-Subaru kiss like Nanoha-mama and Fate-mama?"

"Ahhh...." Nanoha trailed off, looking over at the blonde.

"Well..." Fate picked up helplessly. Looking over at the others she gave a pitiful look. "We can't tell her... you know."

"So," Vivio walked over to Subaru "Will Aunt Subaru kiss Aunt Tia?"

"....Well..." the blue haired girl swallowed when the pleading eyes of her superiors gazed at her. "Yes, Vivio, Aunties kiss just like Mamas, see?" Without any other warning, she bent over and pecked Tia's lips. "Just like that, see?"

Vivio blinked, tilting her head to the side as Tia felt her face turn several shades of red. "But... Mamas touch their tongues too."

"What!?" Tia turned and glared as the two leaders whistled innocently.

"Do... Do Mamas do weird things...?"

"No!" Tia shook her hands, looking into the wide innocent mis-colored eyes. "Ah, mou! Captain Fate, you owe me lunch!" Tia grabbed Subaru and pulled her close, shoving her tongue into the girl's mouth so Vivio could see. "I'll see you later, sweetheart." Her eyebrow twitched.

Subaru was beaming. "Bye bye, daring!"

Vivio smiled happily, running to Nanoha and reaching for her hand. "Mama, mama, can you kiss me too!?"

Nanoha smiled, bent down, and kissed Vivio's cheek. "There you go Vivio."

"But," Vivio pointed to Tia. "I want a kiss like that...."

Tia crossed her arms. "Yes, Nanoha-mama, she wants a kiss like that. Let's see it."

Fate crossed her arms as well, giving a lopsided smile. "It's going to be a difficult lunch break..."

"Um..." Nanoha laughed nervously.

It's much better than I pictured in my mind
