I don't think it's out of the question.

What exactly does Toei plan to bring over, then? I would realize that "old" doesn't sell over here, so what's in your catalog that would work?

Right now, they have

1. Powerpuff girls Z (distribution rights probably owned by CN in america)
2. Lovely Complex (I think they could try this on DVD)
3. Happy Lucky Bikkuri-man (um... no)
4. Yes! Pretty Cure 5
5. Gegege no Kitarou (2007)
6. One Piece (licensed to Funimation)

airing.

If we look back a few years, we find

1. Digimon Savers (licensed to Disney)
2. Pretty Cure Splash Star
3. Giniro no Olynssis
4. Gaiking
5. Airgear (licensed by ADV)
6. Binbou shimai monogatari
7. Kamisama Kazoku
8. Beet the vandal buster (licensed by illumitoon)
9. Ayakashi (licensed by Geneon)
10. Bobobo (distroed by illumitoon)
11. Gash Bell (licensed and aired already)

So, looking at their entire recent catalog, what exactly DO they plan to license?

The choices seem pretty clear to me:

Older audience possibilities: Lovely Complex, Giniro no Olynssis, Binbou shimai, kamisama kazoku
Younger audience: Pretty Cure... and.... Gegege no Kitarou!

I doubt they'll do binbou shimai, and lovely complex is a stretch even though the manga sold pretty well, I believe. So that really leaves a pretty small number of shows to choose from. If you add in "Mononoke" which airs in June, I think there is room for Toei's biggest hit show of the season.

And yeah, I AM getting my hopes up. so sue me.
