I did indeed; however, as that Agatha Christie novel is not the only place I've heard of/seen this sort of plot before, I didn't consider it that big of a deal.
...In fact, the Haruhi Suzumiya books/anime do a pretty good job of explaining
why those sort of mystery stories take place in such places (that is, things like islands lacking direct contact with the mainland, etc.) in a specific chapter (aptly titled "Lone Island Syndrome").
