Ah, no, no nuclear reactor can harvest the energy directly somehow unless you have ultimate solar panel as reactor shelling.... like the material used for I.S. core for example. It does not have heat signature after all.

(of course, they're GOD DAMN expensive, in Len's word, definitely not worth the effort)

1. MHD = 200 kW
2. Sub Modules = 500-700 kW depending on efficiency
3. Net waste heat = 100-300 kW

That's still better than wasting 600 kW in coal plant or 400 kW in normal gas Turbine. MHD these days is projected to supplement these system, until Fusion become prominent that is.

In the end, those reactor is used by Fortress-class I.S. packets, not as main powerplant, but a propulsion.
