Just finished watching ep 1. Kesenai's subs are pretty good IMO.
Spoiler for Thoughts on ep 1:
I couldn't really get into this episode, the dialogue seems stilted, and the characters are... overstated if anything.
The animation reminds me of The Legend of Condor Hero (a good thing) though overall it seems a step below what Madhouse has been bringing us lately.
The bloodshed was unnecessary, but realistic, I suppose.
Cao Cao's voice is out of place, he sounds far too young, actually most of the voices seem out of place.
The narration and flow of the story wasn't very good to me, tbh. It seems like they're going for an old school narrative feel, and are not really doing a good job of it.
The things that bothered me the most, by far, were the OP/ED combination... What the heck? I thought this show was going for a more historically accurate feel, and they give me some weird growling vocals at the beginning and some weird whiny vocals at the end, both thrown over some guitar riffs. There goes all their credibility.
By far the best part of this first episode was the grotesque prologue about the monster eating itself. That was brilliantly done, so much so it made me retch. An excellent use of the 'show, not tell' principle.
