I'm not sure why people find 'I have control' funny, because its as real as 'Countdown, Liftoff', 'Control to all stations', 'Firing, On target' and such.
And now Sorakake Shoujo is taking it all the way with it lol
Probably because it came from a shoujo or loli that its actually funny. Mileina and the Sorakake girls. The first time I heard such a thing was a pair of lolis and their loli mecha doing a combo dancing attack with 'I Hub! U Hub! I have control!' and they start dancing.
