When I said she's an "anchor" I meant a psychological anchor, a way to keep them grounded and stop them from just going completely over the edge. That's why I fear what would happen if they took their eyes off of her for even a second. In this world, a seven-year-old girl cannot be left alone. She wanders just around the corner, laughs a little too loud, and she's a goner. It'd be easy to develop a sort of dependence on the girl as a way to keep their sanity, so just what would happen to the group if she became one of them...
