General embarrassment
. She was already fan of American animation, and she simply had bad info regarding Japanese animation. So, after I went through the regular spiel regarding anime (we've all had to do this spiel at least once for a loved one or a friend
), we sat down to watch a title (I forget which title we watched (I think it was either
Ghost in the Shell or
El-Hazard (are those two different enough
))).
She never really gained any fascination (beyond a technical standpoint) for anime, and that was pretty much the end of that particular discussion. (We eventually broke up a few months later over my fascination with Troma films, but that is another story...)
