I've always liked this manga, but also knows that it's essentially still a very well done shoujo. When it went the "manipulative rival" route I was worried that it would also go the standard melodramatic messy misunderstanding route (the cliffhanger on chapter 11 was nasty =_=). Oh how does it keep pleasantly surprising me!

Kurumi is your typical manipulative rival at heart, but she seems like she can't take on Sawako's innocent idealism for much longer. She even appear sympathetic to me thanks to Sawako's incredibly refreshing viewpoints, lol ("popular is taxing!"). I hate to admit it but they look like they'll eventually be good friends...though I do expect Kurumi to try to pull a few more nasty tricks before she gives in.
