Hmm. The test server on the moon where players lose bits of there memories, the tasteless food unless made without UI, the need to defecate along with other realistic elements. The first point, in particular, indicates that the mastermind, assuming there is one, wants the players to forget their old lives. If there is a purpose behind all of this, then I think the mastermind actually wants the players to accept the world of Elder Tale as their new reality.

I think Shiroe could run with that.
