Uhm if I recall correctly, they used it + her witch remains in order to make Kazumi or something like that. I might need to re-read that part though.
uhm...what Nico did was correct, is just that they didn't know (a.k.a Kyubei didnt tell them) that they the cleaning process doesn't quite work like that.
