A lot of time these representatives are echoing the belief of those voters who are likely to elect him/her.
Michelle Bachman, for example, says a lot of things that makes a lot of people scratch their head and yet, her district keeps electing her. So even if some of these congressman sounds out-of-touch or controversial, they are just saying what will get them elected. That's good politics.
