While in some ways this ep is the weakest of the season so far, in other ways it is the best - in terms of character development / analysis / background, it has way more than the first 4.
We have Tieria cracking a weak joke. We have Soma's hopes for an happy ordinary human life brought crashing down. We get to see why there's a strained relationship between Andrei and Sergei. We have Lyle getting furious. We have "one man army" (= Gundam?) Graham not interested in a fight. We have Katie getting a true taste of A-LAWS's methods. We have Louise itching for battle. And we have Saji being put through the wringer.
We also have Marina clearly showing her mothering side, then losing her whole country... and Setsuna reflecting on his own mother and just why he hates war, then seeing a Gundam (his ideal) destroying a country.
Basically, there is a fair bit hidden in the dialogue this week.
