Seriously, the point of characters like Dante is that they have
AWESOME written in their blood whether it's from their father, their grandfather, or their great great grandfather. Nobody would have really cared that he is the Son of Sparda when Sparda is a nobody.
Personally, this is probably the worst thing they could have done to the series from a lore/story perspective- assassinating Sparda's character.
