I don't mind mellow, if it's like every teardrop is a waterfall I'd be just as annoyed, I just think the scene was cheesy.
Mellow good. Cheesy bad. Simple really.
If I have to explain -- and I'd really rather not justify a fundamentally emotional reaction with BS logic -- I'd say it has to do with the lack of buildup, the full classroom setting (gawkers are
so not needed), the useless flashback (we
know), the cheesy two-people-stare-at-each-other-and-then-zoom-in thing. In other words, directorial fail.
