The first match in her storyline is a practice match against Reinforce. Of course, nothing weird there. After that, the story starts to move forward as the main conflict is introduced. The first dark piece they encounter is that of Shamal. Speaking of our beloved Knight of the Lake, the version that Hayate fights is COLD.
Next up is Vita, which is one of my favorite story matches so far.
Vita: You. The Book of Darkness and the Sword-Cross (Kenjuji), why do you have them?
Hayate: Because they're mine. I'm the Mistress of the Night Sky.
Vita: HAA? As if, you idiot! (NEEYO BAAKA! [Holy crap, Vita's badmouthing Hayate!
I never thought I'd see the day this happen, even from a fake.]) As if someone like you could be the Master of the Tome!
Hayate: Mou, calling someone you just met an idiot is a bad thing, isn't it?
Reinforce: Mistress... (continues on to say something about Vita being a fake.)
I love the silliness in this part. Hayate may be right but that's not exactly a situation where that's a primary issue. XD After laying the smackdown on fake!Vita...
Hayate: See here, Vita~! Bad girls get this! (Kora, Vita~! Warui ko wa kouyade!)
Vita: Ow ow ow! Stop it! (I don't know what Hayate does. But she probably pinches Vita's nose or pulls her ear.)
Hayate: Gomenasai wa?
Vita: G-gomenasai...
Hayate: Good girl! I'll give you a pat on the head (Nadenade ya~).
Vita: W-what is with you...
HAYATE IS NOW THE VITA-MASTER
A bit later, when Vita starts disappearing, Hayate comforts her that she'll be going to sleep only. She bids the smaller loli goodnight and Vita replies with, "Un." like a good girl.
Okay, I was trying my best not to laugh out loud in the cybercafe I watched this in. XD Hayate-chan tamed the wild Vita quite easily. XD
The next two are Chrono and Signum. I can't remember these two matches too well because the I couldn't understand many things they said in these parts.
Chrono gets a comment about being strict(?) or something while Signum also didn't recognize Hayate. She was a lot more civil than Vita and even Shamal about it, though.
I was expecting the next to be Zafira to complete the Knights. But to my dismay, our favorite butler dog gets shafted yet again in favor of the psychopathic murderous loli version of Fate aka Material-L.
Zafira's exclusion aside, this match takes the cake as my favorite one in Hayate's storyline. Before fighting, Material-L starts badmouthing (and I mean BADMOUTHING. Think Vita is a wild cat? Material-L makes her look like a small kitten by comparison) both Hayate and Reinforce. Hayate gets her crowning moment of awesome by telling M-L to shut up ("Cho, damare...!"). She then goes on to say something like say whatever bad things about her because some of them are true anyway, but she wouldn't forgive those who insult her Blessed Wind, Reinforce, whom she even goes as far to call her treasure. When Material-L mocks her again, she says, "Then do you want to try me?" and they go for it. After wiping the floor with the blue brat ("SONA BAKANAAAA~!!!" [Ugh! >_< Nana-chan! Maybe you could have made Material-L's shouts sound a little more easy on the ears. Yukarin's voice work with the POLITE badass Material-S was <3<3<3 by comparison.]), Reinforce expresses her surprise at seeing Hayate genuinely angry for the first time. I wasn't able to get much of what Hayate replied. Understanding Japanese is hard enough without Kansai-ben in the way. (I still love the charming lilt of her accent, though. <3) But I guess it was the predictable D'AAW-worthy fluff.
The next match is against Material-D, meaning it's Kana Ueda talking to herself. XD I was severely lacking sleep so I gave up trying to understand what they were saying by this point. I'll just have to say that Ueda's voice work with M-D is quite convincingly scary. She really sounds like a through and through evil antagonist there.
Anyway, after the match, Material-D does something (I'mma charging all my dark powers to finish you or something like that...?) and then suddenly,
*BOOM!!!*
Material-D: GUAAAH!!! (she gets a hole blasted through her gut) T-this attack is...
Signum: WolkenMagenta. Shiba Signum.
Vita: Onajiku (The same) Red! Shiraishi Vita!
Shamal: Onajiku Green! Hanaori Shamal!
Zafira: Onajiku Blue (or blue-gray or light blue or BLARGH.) Ikenami Zafira!
Signum: Tenka gomen no Kishi Sentai! (The Knight Task Force authorized by Providence!)
All: WOLKENGER!! MAERU!!! (WOLKENGER!! GOING FORTH!!!)
*AARON008R IS KILLED BRUTALLY*
(For those who don't get it, watch this video.)
Sorry. The joke was too good to pass up.
Super Sentai parodies aside, yeah. Signum deals the kill with Sturmfalken.
And then after a short talk, Hayate kinda collapses and...
And then I melted.
The Knights talk among themselves how Reinforce got to catch Hayate faster than anyone of them could. And they attribute it to her being Hayate's loyal Unison Device. Signum and Shamal have a telepathic conversation about Hayate not realizing that Reinforce had little time left for something I'm not sure off. I even brought along my Japanese dictionary, and I wasn't able to hear anything about Reinforce's life being limited. I guess it's about Reinforce's abilities as a Unison Device nearing its end. I'm not sure. T_T The four of them decide to keep it a secret.
And the final match is against... DUN DUN DUNNN!!! NANOHA!
It was actually hinted several times across Hayate's story that she had been receiving tutorials from pretty much everyone in her study of magic. She and Nanoha promised each other a practice match by the end of the week I think.
Before they fight, Chrono warns the two to not break the defensive barrier around them (MUDA DA, CHRONO!) Hayate tells Nanoha that they go at ZENRYOKU ZENKAI, to which of course, the White Devil agrees. When the fight ends, Hayate has defeated Nanoha! Hayate couldn't believe that she won at first. (It was a shock for me too.
)
Everyone else watching was also surprised by the upset victory. Nanoha was so cute when she went:
Nanoha: Cho... chotto! Ima wa nashi nashi~! Hayate-chan, mou ikkai~~!!! (Wa... wait! That one didn't count~!! Hayate-chan, one more time~~!!!)
Nanoha is a sore loser.
*STARLIGHT BREAKER'D!!!*
Anyway, Hayate declined since she was already tired. Reinforce talks with Signum about that if Nanoha was serious, Hayate couldn't have won but the victory now was still nonetheless very impressive (I'm not sure if that's exactly what they were saying, actually.). Hayate then suggests a team battle with her and her Knights against Nanoha and the Mages and Nanoha agrees. What happened afterward is left to the player's imagination. And what I imagined was
CHAOS and
DESTRUCTION.
The ending has Reinforce taking Hayate for a stroll in the park. Reinforce mentions that her abilities of Unison have completely disappeared. And then she suggests about the second Unison Device that will fly with Hayate in the future to be Zwei (two) if she is Eins (one). Hayate teases that the naming is too simple but also admits that she likes it. As for the rest, my Japanese comprehending powers have completely run out so I can't figure them out. After that was the ending song. XD
