I didn't know there was a prequel, though, thanks for letting me know! I'll check it out sometime.

It's not that they forgot Shun (after all, they're planning to name their child after him if it's a boy), it's just that... well, Shun died when they were 14. Eternal love is nice and romantic and all, but it would be really sad if they wasted their lives pining after a boy whom they lost when they were still children, no matter how much they loved him. He's dead, he had haunted them for long enough, and now that they finally remember him they can move on with their life.
