Particularly since when Zect got erased? If my memory serves, he was
smiling. And not in a 'dying peacefully, live on without me' way. He was smiling like a slasher movie serial killer who's just found two teens having sex in the middle of the dark woods far away from their car. At the time, I thought the implication we were supposed to take from the scene was that the Lifemaker had possessed him in some way.
