I was under the impression that when they were introduced, the mentioned that they looked up to Natsu when they were little kids. If that was the case, then they should be around Natsu's age right now. Hence, if we take 14 years away, they would be extremely young kids or even babies, which would be a little difficult to train as Dragon Slayers by the Dragons. Then again, the other evidence given is that they have Exceeds with them, which Dragon Slayers usually have.
Well, if they are truly Dragon Slayers, then it means that they'll eventually end up as Fairy Tail members. Fairy Tail seems to have a monopoly on Dragon Slayers.
