I kinda felt it coming after the last ep and even more after that kiss. But then when he didn't die intiially and fought back with simoun in the guren lagann, i thought he'd make it through :'(
today is a sad..sad..day..
edit: And holy crap i dont even remember that part in the beginning of ep 1. I feel a bit reassured now knowing that simoun becomes a badass later in his life ^^
