Lol that's one of the reasons why I like him. Just love it when he calls people mongrels (they actually are). He's actually one of the few arrogant characters that have the right to be arrogant. Or to make myself more clear, it makes sense to why he is arrogant. And he doesn't think he's better than everyone else. Not Enkidu. And he also respected Iskandar.
Anyways no clue why anyone would hate Ko-Gil. He is nothing like the adult one.
