Sorry if this seems to be the wrong place, since I want to ask about converting from MKV to AVI hardsubbed for my DiVX player

I managed to convert the file using PS3 video9 into the format I wanted, lowres xvid avi with mp3, but the subtitle was lost. I used VirtualDub to embed the .ass file and, while it works, but this entire process took two phase, I have to do it manually

Is there a way to convert the mkv to avi in one go (with the typesetting/styling intact)? because I plan to leave my PC on converting when works.
